The lakes offer wonderful rambling opportunities and walks can be started direct from the property. The barn is centrally located and within easy driving distance to the regional city of Bristol offering shopping facilities an ice rink theatres cinemas bars and restaurants. The historic city of Bath has much to discover with cultural entertainment including museums and theatres. Wells with its famous cathedral is within a 20 minute drive as is the town of Cheddar. Local attractions in the area include Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole Caves. Bath has some of Britain’s most majestic Georgian architecture, as well as the famous Roman Baths (not mention great shopping). Then there’s Wells, England’s smallest city. Wandering around the cathedral close, with its unspoilt medieval lanes is like taking a step back in time. And for a real sense of mystery, there’s Glastonbury (home of the world-famous music festival), supposedly the site of King Arthur’s mythical Avalon. All await you on one of our Somerset cottage holidays. The county has more than its fair share of beach resorts too. The Grand Pier at Weston-Super-Mare is superb, as is the wide beach here, while Minehead and Burnham-on-Sea offer a choice of traditional seaside pleasures. Meanwhile, for nature lovers there’s the wild landscape of Exmoor, and the Mendip and Quantock Hills, both Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cheddar Gorge is truly stunning. Great for real Cheddar cheese too!
